OMS 3 – Next generation of mobile applications made by OPAL
The mobile framework of OPAL, OMS (OPAL Mobile Solution), stands for modern, secure, high-performance, user-friendly and platform-independent mobile applications for industrial use.
With our modular system, you can adapt business processes to the requirements of your company as flexibly and precisely as possible. The modern architecture solves requirements quickly and independently of products – on Android as well as iOS and Windows systems.
The framework supports all current hardware models (forklift terminals, smart-phones, tablets, wearable devices …) and has already integrated many manufacturer-specific libraries for connecting hardware interfaces, to name just one example of the use of those mentioned libraries. In order to meet today’s requirements for the scanning of barcodes, in particular structured barcodes according to standards like GS1, it is indispensable to communicate directly with scan engines. This is the only way to achieve high flexibility and performance in mobile applications. NFC and GPS technologies are also on the advance today and are becoming more and more important in mobile applications. Last but not least, it is important to trust a partner such as OPAL and its frameworks, which are continuously subject to improvement and development.
Our applications are built to a very high quality following GAMP 5 guidelines. Acting as an expert of auto-ID applications, Opal has extensive experience in the development of industrial mobile applications. Our solutions are used during the complete supply chain process and help our customers increasing process reliability and improving quality.
Over the past few decades, we have developed over 100 solutions and added new ideas and concepts as well as individual components to our framework. Today’s project run-times can be reduced by a significant factor as we do not have to start from scratch, as long as a standard solution does not exist already.
In the area of product security, we are providing a platform with OSH (OPAL Service Host), that meets latest security standards for secure connections, authentication and authorization, enhancing the framework. This means that company data can not only be transmitted encrypted, but can also be checked and deleted if necessary. The management of mobile devices is also part of the OSH, which provides a tool for efficient control and monitoring of the activities using GPS localization.
Thanks to the numerous implementations and continuous development, interfaces to all common ERP systems (SAP®, Infor, Oracle, SOU and others) are available. OPAL as an Auto-ID system integrator has many years of experience in connecting mobile applications to backend systems and has a broad knowledge of the SAP environment and can therefore also integrate business functions for SAP customers independently.
